Photo 1 is a Reynolds News Photograph.
1) the Seaham Lodge on the banks at the racecourse at Durham about 1949-
judging by the age of my brother.
2) A Wards heritage postcard of Durham big Meeting
Being a bandsman the Big Meeting was a must, it meant an early start if we were going with the band, quite often they were hired by Seaham Colliery but not always. If we were going with the Lodge it was by bus from the Mill Inn,but the assembly point was at the top of Gilesgate Bank, Sherburn Road ends. When I went back years later I could not believe how far we had to walk, it was a long way and an even longer walk back. Sometimes I had to take my grandma which meant a train from Seaton Station. Not so bad but still a long way.My dad loved the brass bands after the scouts band finished he could not join another band but guested with other bands and played into Durham with 10 different bands.

Lad on the left looks like Ray Moles and the one in the centre looks like Douggie McAndrew.
Having had a second look at the picture the lad in the middle could be Jack Kirtley?

I have found your web site whilst researching my family history.
I see there is a
man from Toronto who believes he was born in number 6 Grants Crescent Seaham in 1967.
I have discovered that I was born at that address.....in 1967 also!
From my research
I understand the Richardson family lived there and the family consisted of Mother
Jenny, Father John (or Johnnie) and five boys of various ages as well as a girl (or
Young Woman) Jean. The family left Seaham in the late sixties when they bought a
pub in Sunderland 'The Grapes' in Monkwearmouth.
As part of my search I would be grateful
if anyone might know of a former Seaham man by the name of James Bartlett Forster
(Barty to his friends) whom I understand married a local woman Joy Goodrick in 1967.
I would be very pleased to accept any information as to his current whereabouts.
After
living all over the UK and abroad, I find myself living at East Shore Village without
any prior knowledge of my genetic connections with the area, perhaps we all have
a homing device that has worked extremely well in my case.
I am keen to trace my own
history and would be grateful of any information that would assist me. I have posted
this information on other Seaham history sites in the hope it jogs memories for someone.

I think you misunderstand the purpose of the website a little. I myself have no
information regarding family history, not even my own! But I can post your request
on the site in the hope that somebody else can help you. If you can help Ray with
information please E-
Hi,
The photo is of relatives of mine Richard & Elizabeth Pickering. From the 1930s
to the 1940s they lived at 76 Princess Road Seaham. Sadly Richard died in
1954 and his wife Elizabeth in 1986.
Hope you can use the photo on your website.

Allan Fulcher
Thanks for the photo and the info Alan.
